As the League kicked off its Annual Two-Man Best Ball Tournament, what was abundantly clear was the many new faces eagerly waiting to play in the Houston Golf League. Over half the field were new players which were a direct correlation of all the hard work everyone has put in trying to spread the word of all the wonderful things we do in the league. Of the 44 players, 25 were first timers with the league, this is a great start especially with more new players committed to play in the league opener at Gus Wortham. I am by no means naive enough to think that the importance of accumulating new members as to holding on to them is even more important. I know the Houston Golf League is not for everyone for various reasons, but if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to ask me, just don't quit or stop showing up let me know your problem to see if we can work through it. Running a golf league is extremely difficult you must juggle a lot of balls in the air at the same time. I am constantly looking for new ways to better the league and from time to my look over some of the small things. I am 100% committed to the league and its development.
Enough said about the business side of the league, let's keep the topic the same with the influx of new faces. Two of those new faces Bryan Daniele and Jerrid Payton challenged and beat out the 2nd and 3rd rank players in the league, Vincent Gilmore and Ronnel Calixterio finished in second place. True there was a lot of new faces, but after all the introductions, and nice to meet you was over with two old faces stood on top of the food chain as the proverbial champs. Gabe Ramos and Mark Ripley aka "The Green Hornet" was in no mood to extend the olive branch to the newbies. Gabe who plays the part as Kato does it extremely well to help Mark Ripley when he needs it the most. They managed to just sneak by Bryan And Jerrid in a scorecard playoff. This was a great tournament with a ton of good players no doubt our strongest field we ever had. Let's keep up the support and I will do my best to make the Houston Golf League your Home Sweet Home. Congratulations Gabe and Mark on your back to back Best Ball Championship.
