It's incredible - Sean Hinton has fulfilled his promise and won his third consecutive Players Championship. Known as the "Hit Man," he assassinated  his competition at the Golden Nugget in Lake Charles, becoming the first player in League History to achieve this feat. His first victory was in 2021 at Koasati Pines, where he recorded a two-day total of 144. Last year, he triumphed at Contrand Bayou with a two-day total of 150, and this year, he achieved his lowest two-day total yet of 142 at the Golden Nugget. What's even more impressive is that he has achieved this at three different venues, proving that the saying "the horse for the course" doesn't apply to him. To add to the mind-blowing nature of this accomplishment, all three of his career victories are Players Championships.
Despite facing intense competition from rookie Douglas Harris, Sean was able to claim victory in the 2021, 2022, and now 2023 Players Championship. While it may have been his best outing, he still needed every stroke to secure the win, even requiring extra holes in a playoff. Harris pushed Sean to his limit throughout the 36 holes they played, with the lead changing hands multiple times. However, in the end, it was Sean's clutch par putt on the third hole that sealed the deal with a killer shot right between the eyes. The small field made for an intimate and exciting tournament, especially with the support of the players' wives, making it a true family affair. Congratulations to Sean on another well-deserved victory.
