DAVID AND GOLIATH

This is a story about David and Goliath that does not end in favor of our heroic folklore hero, David. On August 13th, 2023, a historic battle between two of the League's finest players took place. These Titans went toe to toe for 18 holes, utilizing every shot in their arsenal – from 300-yard drives to precision iron shots, 45-foot putts, and even making it out of the bunker. The two recorded an astounding 13 birdies, setting a league record. Jeremy Williams, the Goliath of the story, asserted himself with 4 birdies on the first 6 holes, leaving Jose Sanchez no chance to ready his slingshot. However, Sanchez fought back with two consecutive birdies on holes 6 and 7, causing Williams to stumble and boggy on nine, leaving Jose with a one-shot lead as they finish the front nine. David had wounded the big fella, and it was time to finish him off on the back nine, but Goliath Jeremy Williams had other plans. His birdies on 10, 12, and 15 (a blast hole out from the bunker) sent Jose back scrambling for pebbles to throw. Finally, the fatal blow came on 17, a 45-foot putt that found the center of the cup, while Jose had stuck his approach within six feet but failed to make the birdie. Congratulations to Jeremy Williams for your record-breaking round with eight birdies, and your first career win with the League. The moral of this story is that the bigger they are, the longer and straighter they hit it, and never bring a rock to a gunfight.
