BENNY GOMEZ

GIVES GUYS

Last week's tournament had all the ups and downs, highs and lows, twists and turns of a suspense novel. There were so many unpredictable plots throughout the 1round. At the time when the appropriate shot was needed the most, some of the guys choked. Here's the prologue so we can get this storyline started.
It isn't easy to win a tournament for someone that's never won before or is new to the league. A player must display control of his nerves by settling the jitters and the sweaty palms to walk away victorious. There are a few guys that fell victim to this scenario.
Let me introduce you to one of the five guys. First, we have Benny Gomez. Benny begged me to put him in the previous tournament in Jose Sanchez's rack saying he had a "rabbit to pull out of his hat" for the league's best player, but it was already full.  An opportunity now presented itself in Cypresswood, and they were paired together.  Benny showed up and answered the call.  He played well all rounds until 17 and 18, where he went three over to make a five-way tie for the first place at three-under.
Now, let's discuss the second guy, Ethan. He was neck and neck with Benny for the lead heading to the back nine. Surprisingly, he didn't finish the round strong.  He was up one on 18 in the middle of the fairway with a wage in his hand. He flared the shot to the right and dumped it in the water. He managed to get it up and down with a beautiful 15-foot putt to keep him in the money.
Next, there's Jason Anderson,  Jason was up one on the 17 tee box, but he went four over on the closing two holes to put himself in the crowded field of guys at -3.
Now, Robert Martinez was the next guy that fell victim. He was hanging tough with three shots back.  He hasn't won a tournament before, but he was four over on the closing holes.
And finally, the last player in this quintet was Hugo Amaro, who was five back. Hugo, the veteran in the group, was the only one playing like he wanted the tournament making up five shots to put himself in a position to win, but a costly boggy on 15 kept him from winning it. So now we have a five-person scorecard playoff. Hugo and Robert were the first two to go, with boogies on the number one most challenging holes.
Then Ethan is eliminated on the second most challenging hole, 15, leaving Benny and Jason to fight it out. They pushed forward toward the 3rd hardest hole on the move to 17. Jason had played his worst one of the tournament with a triple boogie.
This was one of the most exciting finishes in the league's history as Benny was ushered to the champion's podium to collect his crown and earnings.
Congratulations to all five guys for making this tournament the greatest one ever. The End.
