JONATHAN COLE

PLAYING FOR SECOND PLACE!

What are the makings of a good British Open? Would it be high winds, rain, tons of blind shots, all on a link style golf course?  Well, this Sunday we checked all those boxes. Wildcat is such a good place to host The League British Open. There was one guy who didn't care about any of that stuff. His ass was on fire and we were playing for second place. Thank you, Jonathan Cole. His round was a thing of beauty. Gross 77, under all that pressure and circumstance, is an awesome job. Jonathan has been in The League since 2018 and has an 87.6 scoring average this year. His net scoring is 74.4, finishing second in the 2018 PGA Championship, at the Wilderness in Lake Jackson. And another second place at Southwyck in 2018. So he has been close a few times, but this was an out-of-body experience. Ten shots under your normal are what  I call in the zone. Looking at his scorecard, he only hit 4 fairways and 6 greens, so you know his putter was hot. 26 is the best in the field. No other stat is more important than that putter. Second place went to Rodney Griggs, The League best player and newcomer, Eric Giddings from Garland, Texas. They both shot a pair of 69s. With the Culture Cup a few months away, the Blue Team looks like the Warriors. The Top League 5 players, 4 of them are on the Blue Team. It will be interesting to see how Captain Rodney Griggs manages his team. Roland Turner had that spot for three years in a row and won two of them. A lot of strategies are involved when it comes to the right match-ups.  Gabe Ramos looks like he will be the Captain on the Red Team, a position he has been in several times, winning back in 2014 and 2017. Gabe has never missed a cup tournament. He has played in all seven.  The White Team captain is still up in the air between Chris Allen and Mitch Mosley. Jonathan has no doubt earned his spot on the 2019 team. This win moves him up from out of the top 10, into the second-ranked player in The League, in the B Flight. Only ten points away from Steve Sachs, the number one player. Great win Jonathan Cole. Congratulations on a job well done!
